Laura Reilly

Managing Director

Laura is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management, Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Associate Chartered Institute of Legal Executives member with a certificate in employment practice and a qualified Paralegal. She works as an Employment Lawyer and trained in employment tribunal advocacy through Central Law Training, with coaching from an experienced retired employment judge who has mentored Laura throughout her career. Laura has over 15 years of private and non-profit sector experience, a practical understanding of operational management as a national operations manager, combined with operational and strategic HR management experience, up to Board level. She was previously a Director of a medium-sized Accountancy Practice specialising in HR consultancy and employment law for clients and is considered an integral part of senior leadership teams driving cultural change. She is a qualified mediator (civil and commercial) as well as a skilled negotiator, with particular expertise in manufacturing and professional services environments. Experienced in settlement negotiations, employment dispute resolution and unionised environments spanning multiple UK sites. Andy Williams

Senior HR Advisor

Andy works mainly for our retained clients and on our advice line, providing initial support and offering triage to see whether more complex cases need to be referred to senior specialists. He is an integral part of the team and has worked as a line manager himself, so understands the challenges faced by business owners and leaders. Andy has 4 years of HR experience in-house and has undertaken absence management casework, policy reviews and led on disciplinary and grievance cases. He has a true generalist background and is based in Durham covering businesses in Newcastle, Durham and the rest of the UK.

Anna Byrne

HR Director

Anna is a senior HR professional with 15 + years’ experience across sectors including Care, Education, Retail, Construction, Haulage, Financial & Professional Services. She has experience across a depth of regulatory bodies including CQC, BMI, OFSTED & BDA. Anna enjoys running seminars to business owners teaching them about upcoming changes in employment laws, and delivering training courses to business leaders to help them manage their people in the best way. She is resolution-focused and strives to ensure every case is dealt with fairly and in line with employment law, whilst keeping the commercial goal in sight. She specialises in complex HR cases including but not limited to ill-health capability hearings, gross misconduct disciplinaries, restructures, redundancies, performance management and short/long term sickness management. In addition, Anna worked for a large HR and legal consultancy specialising in employment documentation, and was a QC for team members, later becoming a departmental manager.

Michelle Briggs

HR Advisor

Michelle is a solid generalist HR Advisor, her experience extends across a variety of sectors which includes Science, Manufacturing and Education.

Michelle was previously a manager within the public sector for several years and understands the requirement to understand and remain within the boundaries of employment law from a manager’s perspective, whilst maintaining healthy relationships with employees.

She specialises in HR cases, which include but are not limited to, disciplinaries, ill health capability, gross misconduct, performance management, short and long-term sickness absence.
